What is a PowerGard™ Protection Plan Residential contract?

A PowerGard™ Protection Plan Residential contract is an extended service or repair plan. It provides an extension of repair coverage beyond the manufacturer's warranty.

What coverage plans are offered for PowerGard™ Protection Plan Residential?

Depending on machine type, plans provide coverage beyond the manufacturer warranty in one year increments for up to four additional years. The contract goes into effect upon expiration of the manufacturer's warranty period. However, coverage for transportation begins on the day you purchase the plan.

The PowerGard™ Protection Plan Residential coverage for my machine refers to months and total hours. What does this mean?

The manufacturer's warranty on your machine ends when the total months of warranty coverage are reached OR when the hourmeter reading reaches the maximum number of hours allowed under the warranty. The PowerGard™ Protection Plan Residential contract works the same way.

Depending on whether you have a liquid cooled or air cooled machine, PowerGard Protection Plan Residential covers you for a maximum number of months OR hours, whichever comes first (see grid below).

Should you fail to resolve a payment issue, we will send you a notice of cancellation and you will receive a pro-rata refund based on the amount you have already paid (less a twenty-five dollar ($25.00) cancellation fee, or ten percent (10%) of the purchase price (whichever is less), less the cost of claims paid). Please refer to the Terms & Conditions for further information regarding our cancellation policy.

What is the difference between a warranty and an extended service plan such as PowerGard™ Protection Plan Residential?

As stated by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission: a warranty comes with a new product and is included in the original price; an extended service plan is arranged at additional cost. An extended service plan is a promise to perform (or pay for) specific repairs and/or services. The separate and additional cost distinguishes an extended service plan or extended protection plan from a warranty.

If purchased from another individual or at a farm auction, can I still purchase PowerGard™ Protection Plan Residential?

Contact your John Deere Dealer to find out if your machine is eligible.

How do I know that my PowerGard™ Protection Plan Residential coverage has been activated?

Contract documents with coverage terms will be sent to you at the address you provide while purchasing your contract. No. The contract that was purchased stays with the machine. You can cancel the contract for a prorated refund or transfer it to the new owner of the machine. You can then purchase a PowerGard™ Protection Plan Residential contract on your new machine.

My machine just went out of the manufacturer's warranty. Can I still purchase a PowerGard™ Protection Plan Residential contract? If so, how?
